You can also describe Gist Tracker as our on-site notification system, but only notifies about Gists and Clips, other notifications are still sent by old means of e-mail or site inbox, enjoy!

Gistcaster Team

Hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context your gists. They’re like tags on our Clips section or even Flickr, only that its added inline to your post.

You create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: #hashtag. To make this hash tag “live”, all You need to do is write a gist and add #whatever to it. It can be anywhere in the gist, not just at the end.

Taiwo Orogbanga spoke about “Online tools for students and how to download stuffs online” introducing web 3.0 search engines like kngine.com and wolframalpha.com. He then showed them how to use torrents for downloading stuffs.

Ademola Morebise finally stepped out to present Gistcaster after a brief biography was read out by a friend Osobukola Doyinsolami. Ademola started by  clearing all doubts through a slide he dubbed “Four Questions about Gistcaster” and went forward to do a live demo helped by Damilare Akinlaja

Gistcaster, an initiative to rebrand Nigeria, change the way Nigerians find information online as well as drive local e-content generation is organizing a one day campaign at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
The technology campaign tagged “Gistcaster summit” will showcase the positive potentials of the internet, and how students can use it to make their everyday life easier.
Gistcaster will then be presented to FUTA students formally. Gistcaster is a website that allows people to keep in touch with friends and discover what is happening around them. It has already attracted lots of students in higher institutions.
The seminar will attract nearly a thousand FUTA students who would like to have their internet-related problems solved and learn something new.The summit is billed to hold on 26th of march 2010.

For Instance, some people wanted commenting, for others 140 characters limit per gist was too small, and so on. Which led to even bigger questions: is Gistcaster the latest Nigerian “Twitter-look-alike” on the web?

All this pointed clearly to One thing; it was time to take a new approach to ‘gisting’ (Gisting isnt english – we know, pls pardon us.)

So, back to the drawing board we went and now we’re back with a total re-structuring of Gistcaster!
